Me and my husband Mike
|
August 11, 2009
Welcome to ECS! I am truly excited that you have joined us here at Elkhart Cyber School! This is my eighth year of teaching here and each year is a little different and unique. I am sure that you will have a unique experience this year too. I am teaching 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grades, all classes, and 7th and 8th grade social studies and science.
My family has lived in Elkhart since 1990. My husband, Mike, works for Epic Touch Company, a local telephone, cable, and Internet company. We live just a few miles outside of Elkhart at the edge of the Cimarron National Grasslands. We enjoy walking, biking and taking photographs to enjoy the beauty of the area. We live in the wide open spaces and we love it! I also like to bake and quilt!
We have two children. Our daughter, Nicole, is 25 and got married to her husband, Paul in October of '08. They live in Olathe, KS. Nicole is an RN, BSN in Medical ICU at St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City and Paul is a Civil Engineer at HNTB. They are expecting their first baby in February.
Our son, Grant, is 23 and just got married in June. He and his wife Katisha just graduated from Emporia State University and have moved to Ellsworth, KS. They are both teaching there. Grant is teaching Elementary P.E. and High School Lifetime Sports and is coaching football, basketball, and baseball. Katisha is teaching 5th grade math, English, and art. They are enjoying getting to know their new community.
I am anxious to get to know my new students and their families and also to get back in touch with the returning students and their families. ECS is a good place to make some new friends. Feel free to communicate and open up a little so you can feel at home in your new school environment. It is really a friendly place! Good luck in your new school year!
