PhysicalScience

In this class students will learn connections between earth, life, and physical science…between physical science and other subject areas…and between physical science and the world they live in.

Biology

Biology I will provide students with an in-depth look at the core biological disciplines of cell biology, genetics, evolutional theory (optional) and ecology.  Students will also be introduced to the five kingdoms of life; viruses and bacteria, protists, fungi, plants and animals and will explore their characteristics and their relevance to human life.  Finally, students will take a look at the organization of the human body and at reproduction and development, two of the characteristics of living organisms.

Advanced Biology

Advanced Biology is a course that includes the anatomy, physiology, and classification of animals from the cellular to the system levels of organization. An emphasis will be placed on the organisms found in the Kingdom Animalia in preparation for Anatomy and Physiology. The student will be required to construct creative models on anatomical organization and perform laboratory experiments to demonstrate the application of critical and analytical thinking in the realm of specific body functioning. The course will cause the student to perform problem solving techniques and work independently beyond the classroom.

Prerequisite: Biology I

Anatomy & Physiology

In this course students will study the structure and function of the human body.  Each major system will be reviewed. This is an advanced course with a relatively high pace.

Chemistry

Chemistry is the study of science that bridges the physical sciences with life sciences.  Students will take a tour through matter, elements, chemical reactions and connect these concepts to everyday life.
