Consumer Math Consumer Math reviews basic operations with whole numbers, decimals, and fractions using mental estimation, paper-and-pencil calculations, and calculations with a calculator. These operations are then used in many consumer applications including work-related applications, banking applications, and every day recreational and living spending applications. The course will also include lessons covering statistics, probability, equation solving, and linear equations to help prepare students for the future higher level math classes.

Pre-Algebra (Algebra 1/2) Algebra ½ is a two-semester mathematics course designed to help students to transition from the concrete concepts of arithmetic to the abstract concept of algebra. This course consists of 123 textbook core lessons, selections from ten additional textbook topics, and selected supplementary activities.
The core lessons are a combination of basic arithmetic and algebra. The two most important aspects of the core lessons are the incremental development into the algebraic content and continual practice. Incremental development refers to the division of concepts into small, easily understood, parts that are taught over several lessons. Continual practice means that fundamental skills and concepts are practiced and reviewed in a cumulative manner throughout the year.
Supplementary problems or activities will be included in the course. Emphasis will be on problems to help students understand the concepts being taught and those that involve problem-solving skills.

Algebra I Algebra 1 is a two-semester mathematics course basic to all higher-level mathematics. It is a composite of topics serving as an introduction to many facets of mathematics. In essence, it is the foundation of abstract mathematics. This course consists of 120 textbook core lessons and selected supplementary activities.
The core lessons are algebra with geometry integrated into some of them. The two most important aspects of the core lessons are the incremental development and continual practice. Incremental development refers to the division of concepts into small, easily understood, parts that are taught over several lessons. Continual practice means that fundamental skills and concepts are practiced and reviewed in a cumulative manner throughout the year.
Supplementary problems or activities will be included in the course. Emphasis will be on problems to help students understand the concepts being taught and those that involve problem-solving skills.

Algebra II Algebra II is an upper level math class that integrates both algebra and geometry into 131 lessons from the Saxon Algebra II text. Saxon designed the book to help the student become a successful mathematics problem solver. One of the ways this is accomplished is by working 91 problem sets that involve long-term practice and incremental development of the concepts. It will be very important that all 30 problems from each of the 131 lessons is worked by the student. MOTIVATION is a key to this course.

Geometry The ECS geometry course is an upper level math class that will combine geometry concepts with real-world applications. Even though this is a geometry course Basic algebra skills will be used throughout the entire curriculum. Each lesson will allow you to practice working problems before starting on the assignment that will need to be handed in. |
