Meet Your History Teacher...

Mrs. Susan Carey

I grew up in Colorado Springs, Colorado, and at the age of 20 moved to Pueblo, Colorado to attend the University of Southern Colorado, (now Colorado State University-Pueblo).  I graduated in 2002 with my Bachelor of Arts Degree in History with a minor in Marketing.  After I graduated from CSU-Pueblo, I decided that I had always wanted to be a teacher, so here I am!!

I live in Elkhart with my husband and two adorable dogs, Toto a 3 year old Chihuahua and Shai, a 2 year old Greyhound.  They are both VERY energetic and keep me running (or picking up toys all around our house)!

I was married on December 6, 2008, and have included a slide show of some of our wedding pictures.  My husband is a Deputy Sheriff, and in our spare time, we like to hike.  We recently met up with some friends and hiked Pikes Peak in Colorado--this was both of ours very first 14'er!

This is my 4th year teaching for ECS, and I am just as excited about this year, as I was the past three!  This year, I will be attending Fort Hays State University to pursue my Masters Degree.  This will also be my 4th year at Point Rock Academy, our alternative high school as well as my 3rd year teaching College US History at Elkhart High School.  This year promises to be fun, exciting and eventful, and I can't wait to meet all of you!!!!

Mrs. Carey’s Class Expectations:

I expect all of my students to come to class prepared everyday to learn.  Even though this is an online learning forum, I expect you to be prepared as if you were in a "regular" school everyday.

You are NEVER wasting my time by e-mailing or calling in your questions!  Please feel free to contact me during the day if you are having problems.  I promise that if I am not available, that I will have your question answered within 24 hours.

Your work is due on the target dates specified.  If you know that you will not make it on those dates, please notify me so that we can work on a solution together.  I don't know there is a problem unless you speak up and say something.

Communication is the key!  You will need to stay in contact with me, just as often as I keep in touch with you! Even if you don't have a question, please let me know how you are doing with your work so that I can make adjustments accordingly!!

Needed Supplies:

Paper
Pencil and Pens
Notebooks
Your textbooks
Colored Pencils or crayons (for projects)
Your computer
Your thinking caps!!

If you need help with any of the supplies, please let me know and I will help you in anyway that I can!!  :o)
