Spanish I Spanish I is a course designed to introduce students to basic vocabulary and understanding of elementary grammatical structures of the Spanish language. To develop basic communicative competence in Spanish I, this course will emphasize a cultural awareness of the language development and the acquisition and refining of communicative skills such as listening, reading comprehension, and written expression.

Spanish II This course is an extension of Spanish I. Students will be introduced to more vocabulary and more complex sentence structure. This Spanish II class is an excellent program with a total of 36 lessons.

French I The purpose of studying a language other than English is to help students develop linguistic proficiency and cultural sensitivity. In French 1, by interweaving language and culture, students will broaden their communication skills, while at the same time deepening their appreciation of other cultures.

Art This course is designed to develop art criticism, art production, art history, and aesthetic perceptions. The lessons encourage critical and creative thinking. Learning the language of art gives students the ability to communicate and express themselves and their world. This will be done through hands-on art projects, written assignments and reports.

General Business General Business is designed to acquaint students with the various world economic systems. The course will include the functions of businesses in various systems, social responsibility, business ethics, entrepreneurship, marketing, and management. In addition, the course will cover personal finance topics including mortgages, types of insurance, credit/financing, consumer awareness and income tax preparation. Finally, a complete career unit including the creation of a personal resum é and cover letter will be included.

Foundations for Living Foundations for Living invites students to become informed consumers, learn more about children, focus on making strong families, improve personal skills such as goal setting, decision making, and career selection, and make a gingerbread house for Christmas. Second semester includes some basic preparation before going to the kitchen to cook and to the sewing machine for a basic sewing project.

Skills Tutor SkillsTutor is a proven, research-based
instructional program designed to improve student achievement for
students in grade 3 through adult. Lessons are interactive
and require students to be online while working. Quizzes and Tests
quickly identify student's weak skill areas and prescribe
appropriate lessons to achieve skill mastery. Pre-tests and
post-test reinforce learning, track progress, and help students
feel comfortable taking standardized tests in a similar format. The
Management System
monitors student progress and generates accountability
reports. |

Physical Education This course is designed specifically for students to become lifelong participants of physical activity. Students will develop basic skills and acquire basic knowledge in various physical activities through creating goals and maintaining exercise schedules to meet the goal set. Each student will be required to record all physical activity completed to accumulate a total of 90 hours for the year.

Digital Photography Digital Photography will help familiarize beginning photography students with the use of a digital camera and taking photos using the various features of the camera, and will give practice taking photos of a variety of subjects, including landscapes, people, and animals. The second semester of the course puts to use all of the skills learned first semester to create a visitor's guide for a local community. |
