Graduation Requirements

Earn A Kansas High School Diploma

June 01, 2007

A minimum of twenty-three units is required for graduation from Elkhart Cyber School.  Of these required units, fifteen are specified by the Board of Education with the remainder selected from elective subjects by the students.

ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS -- 4 UNITS

Requirements:

3 Language Arts

1 Elective

Suggested:

Grade 9    General Language Arts

Grade 10   General Language Arts

Grade 11   General Language Arts

Grade 12   English Elective

 

MATHEMATICS -- 3 UNITS

Requirements

3 Electives

Suggested:

Grade 9      Mathematics Elective

Grade 10    Mathematics Elective

Grade 11    Mathematics Elective

 

SCIENCE -- 3 UNITS

Requirements

1 Lab

2 Electives

Suggested:

Grade 9     Science Elective with lab

PHYSICAL EDUCATION -- 1 UNIT

Requirements

May include one-half unit of health, safety, first aid, or physiology

1 US History

½ US Government

1 ½ Electives

Suggested:

Kansas Board of Regents Qualified Admissions

It is recommended a student take these courses if he/she is going to attend college.

 

Four Units English

  • Journalism, speech, drama, theatre, and debate are NOT counted

 

Three Units Social Sciences

  • United States History - 1 credit

  • American Government - 1/2 credit

  • 1 Social Science Elective from: Psychology, Economics, Civics, History, Current social issues, sociology, anthropology, race & ethnic group relations

  • 1/2 Social Science Elective from: World History, World Geography, International Relations

 

Three Units Natural Sciences

  • Biology

  • Advanced Biology

  • Earth Science/Space Science

  • Chemistry*

  • Physics*

*One must be in chemistry or physics

 

One Unit Computer Technology

 

Three Units Mathematics

  • At or above Algebra
