Experience has proven that strong parental support is vital to a student's success in online learning. Students must also feel comfortable studying in a more solitary environment than they find themselves in a traditional school setting. While interaction will take place online between instructors and students and between students themselves, students spend much of their time studying alone. Distractions and lack of Internet access may also prove to be obstacles that have a detrimental effect upon a student's ability to learn.
