Dakota, 6th grade

3 Cheers

for the 3 States of Matter

by Darcy Seitz

February 13, 2008

The 6th grade students have been hard at work in science class learning about the characteristics of matter.  We've discussed how to measure mass, volume, and density, and have learned all about the different structures of matter.  The picture above shows Dakota's project for demonstrating what the particles look like in a solid, liquid, and gas.

We've also been discussing the periodic table of elements.  Some students got creative and wrote puns using different elements.  Can you figure these out?

Example:  What you do to a wrinkled shirt:  IRON (Fe)
This nationality loves sausage:
What class do country boys take in high school:
The farthest place an alien could be from:

During our future science adventures, we will be learning about physical and chemical changes, atomic structures, and acids/bases.  It should be an "explosive" time for all!
